FAQ

Do I need therapy or hypnosis?

We will figure it out together as we create your customized plan. You can work with both a psychotherapist and hypnotist if that is desired and is determined to be an appropriate and effective strategy to meet your goals.

Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?

Our therapists are offering telehealth sessions as long as the insurance companies continue to cover this service. Some of our therapists are also providing in-office sessions. Check back regularly or call the office to stay apprised of the latest changes.  You can learn more in the clinician bios.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions vary in length depending on the type of appointment. Most are 53 minutes.

Do you offer Christian counseling?

While we are not Christian counselors, we are comfortable discussing religion or spirituality if it’s a topic you want to cover.

Do you take Medicaid or Medicare?

No, we do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.

What insurance do you take?

Each clinician is different. Please refer to the clinician bios to learn if a therapist is in-network for you.

What will my insurance cover?

If you are planning to use your mental health benefits for therapy, please contact your individual plan prior to your first appointment, as benefit plans vary from person to person. As a courtesy we will have our billing specialist obtain your coverage details, however, the client is ultimately responsible for any services that are not covered by insurance regardless of what the billing assistant is told by the insurance representative.

What if the therapist I want to see is "out-of-network"?

You can still see that therapist by paying the private rate at the time of service. You may even be eligible for full or partial reimbursement by your insurance company if your plan includes out-of-network benefits. We are happy to provide you with a detailed Superbill that you can submit to your insurance for that purpose. It is recommended that you check on these benefits with your insurance provider prior to the first appointment.

Is it better to use my health insurance or to pay privately?

That depends on your priorities.

To get the lowest rate, you may want to use insurance benefits. To bill insurance, your therapist must make a mental health diagnosis. This becomes part of your medical record.

To maintain the highest level of privacy, you can opt to pay privately. As a private-pay client, you don’t need a mental health diagnosis. Although mental health records are considered “protected health information,” there may be some instances when those records are reviewed (e.g., applying for life insurance).

Can I use an HSA or FSA to pay for your services?

Absolutely! You may use those accounts for services but not for cancellation fees.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Alert your clinician by voicemail or email at least 48 hours before your appointment to avoid the late cancellation/no-show fee.

Is hypnosis covered by insurance?

For insurance to cover hypnosis, specific criteria must be met:

  • The hypnotherapist must be a licensed psychotherapist.
  • The issue addressed must be a diagnosed mental health condition.
  • The session must be 53 minutes or under.

In many instances this criteria will not be met and will be considered a private pay service.

Is hypnosis for smoking cessation covered with insurance?

No, our smoking cessation program does not fit within the insurance model’s format. However, you can use health care savings or flexible savings accounts to help offset the cost.

You may want to consult with your tax preparer to learn if these fees are tax-deductible.

Is hypnosis for weight loss covered with insurance?

No, although weight loss is a wellness goal, it is not a mental health condition.

You may want to consult with your tax preparer to learn if these fees are tax-deductible.
